Maternal/Child Health Unit

The Maternal Child Health Unit offers:
- Five spacious & private labor rooms with calming, comfortable décor and a generous pull-out couch for your support person; and optional wireless fetal monitoring
- Nine private postpartum suites with oversized pull-out chair/bed
- Triage room and services
- Operating Room conveniently located within the Maternal Child Health Unit for delivery of all scheduled or unscheduled cesarean sections
- Birthing bar, labor balls, peanut balls, birthing stool, delivery mirror
- Skin-to-skin contact with your baby immediately after birth
- Family-centered maternity care, which means we put you and your family first while supporting 24/7 rooming-in with baby through maternal and neonatal bedside care and bedside shift report
- Locked unit with 24/7 advanced security system including constant camera and video surveillance
- Free Wi-Fi & plenty of workspace for your support person
- Fully stocked kitchenette for patients
- Coffee, water, and ice machine for family members and support persons
- Comfortable waiting area with television, reading material, and extra snack and drink options for visitors and support persons
- Excellent nutrition with full menu room service between 6:30am and 6:30pm
- Complimentary celebration meal after delivery for you and your support person
- Level I Nursery
- Highly skilled and qualified OB, L&D, and newborn physicians
- Highly experienced compassionate nurses with every nurse certified in Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation
- 1:1 nurse to patient ratio while in active labor
- On-site lactation services and support during and after your stay
- Newborn and new mother home visits available after discharge from hospital; available within a 35 mile radius of Stillwater; Talk with your baby’s physician if interested
- A variety of childbirth, parenting, newborn care, and breastfeeding classes taught by Maternal Child Health Unit and SMC highly trained nurses and employees for before and after delivery
