A LEVEL OF CARE WELL-WORTH THE 50-MILE DRIVE
On March fifth, I was admitted to the ER at Stillwater Medical Center with acute appendicitis. Everyone I encountered went out of their way to ease my pain, and assure me everything would be alright. Dr. Damon and the ER nurses patiently answered all my questions and explained what to expect.
Then Dr. Pelzl, my surgeon, walked me through the procedure in a professional, yet very caring way. After surgery, my nurse, Donna, was the first of many who were always there for me until the day I went home. She took such good care of me that first night.
From the moment I was admitted until the day I was discharged, every doctor, nurse, aid and administrator showed me the highest level of care, and even more kindness. I’m so glad I decided to come to SMC from Ponca City. I can’t tell you what a difference that has made for me, and my recovery. They truly care about people and they love what they do.

This is a long-overdue "Thank you" for the excellent emergency care I received
On Aug. 8th of this year, I came to the ER with chest pains. I was enjoying the jokes and good humor of the EKG tech (a Native American gentleman) and speaking with the nurses when I suddenly felt an increase in my chest pain. The EKG readings indeed indicated trouble, and your team leapt into action. Within moments, nurses were buzzing about, each with a specific job to do. Next thing I know, I was in the Cath Lab with Dr. Poludasu expertly locating and stenting the clocked artery. in my heart. While this was not the end of my problems (I underwent bypass surgery two weeks ago), it was the beginning of my journey to a healthier heart. The ER doctors and nurses worked together like a well-oiled machine. Because of the genuine kindness and medical competence of the ER team, I felt very little fear or anxiety through the attack or cath procedure. I could see that I was in good hands, and I cannot thank you enough for the excellent care I received on the day of my heart attack.
