For most children, well child checks usually happen at newborn visit, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months and 36 months. After 3 years of age, well child checks occur annually. Some chronic (long-term) health conditions, like asthma or ADHD, require more frequent follow-up. Visits for acute illnesses or any other concerns-- growth, development, behavior-- should also be scheduled with a child's pediatrician. Visiting your child's primary care provider whenever possible allows for continuity of care and appropriate follow up.
