Staff Recognition

The DAISY Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of ITP, an autoimmune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere. The DAISY Award is a globally recognized honor presented to nurses who exemplify the highest standards of professional excellence, compassion, and clinical skill. This prestigious award celebrates nurses who consistently go above and beyond in their practice, serving as role models of kindness, competence, and human connection.

The BEE Award at Stillwater Medical celebrates non-nursing team members who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care and support. It recognizes individuals who make a meaningful difference through compassion, teamwork, and extraordinary service—helping create an outstanding experience for patients, families, and colleagues every day.
