Internal Medicine Residency Clinic

The Residents are part of Stillwater Medical’s Internal Medicine Residency Program, which welcomed its first class in July 2022. Each Resident who is currently a doctor in training has finished four years of college and four years of medical school. They finish the on-the-job training required to become board certified in internal medicine through their three-year residency. Residents alternate between caring for clinic patients and hospitalized patients in several departments. All the while, they collaborate with skilled medical professionals who possess the same expertise, talent, and compassion.

Doaa Altameemi, MD

Dr Altameemi was born and raised in Baghdad/Iraq. She earned her medical degree from the University of Baghdad/Al-Kindy College of Medicine, ranking as one of the top ten graduate students in the college. After graduation, she completed rotational residency in Baghdad. In addition to her medical practice in Baghdad, she served as a lecturer at Al-Kindy College of Medicine for several years. In her free time, she enjoys walking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Matthew Arnold, DO

Dr. Matthew Arnold grew up in Menifee, California. He completed his undergraduate degree from Grand Canyon University in 2018. In between his undergraduate and medical studies, he worked as a medical scribe in an emergency room and as a teaching aide at an elementary school. He then graduated from medical school at Kansas City University in 2024.

In his spare time, Dr Arnold enjoys hiking, running, camping, and anything that gets him out in the outdoors. His interests include hospital-based medicine, Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, and Critical Care.

Whitney Frick, MD

Dr. Whitney Frick was born and raised in Show Low, Arizona. She attended Arizona State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on to work as a registered nurse for approximately one year before starting medical school at the University of Arizona. While in medical school, she graduated with distinction in community service for 180+ hours she dedicated to UofA’s commitment to the underserved people program and its associated clinics.

Whitney lives in Stillwater with her spouse (who was born and raised in Edmond, Oklahoma) and their son. She loves spending time with her family, and other hobbies include sewing and PC gaming.

Austin Henley, DO

Dr. Austin Henley was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and grew up in Rogers, Arkansas. After meeting, befriending, and falling in love with his wife in high school, he followed her to Baylor University in Waco, Texas. There he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He returned home to study medicine at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine and subsequently received his Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O).

Dr. Henley resides in Stillwater with his wife and their dog, Lady. In his downtime, he enjoys reading, hiking, and laughing whenever he can.

McKayla Muse, DO

Dr. Muse grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma, and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. She went on to attend medical school at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Tahlequah Nation, where she developed a strong interest in internal medicine and infectious diseases.

In her free time, Dr. Muse enjoys spending quality time with her partner, family, and friends, as well as relaxing through video games and watching her favorite TV shows.

Alfonso Acosta, DO

Dr. Alfonso Acosta was raised in Fort Myers, Florida, and graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. He had a gap year between undergraduate and medical school, which he used to work as a substitute teacher. He then graduated from medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa.

Dr. Acosta moved to Stillwater with his partner, Alex, and their dog Zoey. He is incredibly excited about the opportunity to continue his medical career in Stillwater. He is unsure if he would like to specialize in the future, but is eager to experience all that medicine offers. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games on his computer.

Arslan Ahmad, MD

Dr. Arslan Ahmad was raised in Pakistan and completed his medical education at the Rawalpindi Medical University. After graduation, he moved to the United States and worked in Maryland, where he gained valuable clinical experience in primary care before moving to Oklahoma. As for his move to Oklahoma, Dr. Ahmad stated, “I liked the simplicity and humble nature of the people here. Their warmth and community spirit motivate me daily to become the best physician I can be and provide compassionate care to all my patients.” Dr. Ahmad’s choice to pursue medicine stems from the idea of creating a positive change in society. Coupling it with his diligent and studious nature, he felt medicine was and continues to be the right fit for him.

In his spare time, Dr. Ahmad likes to hike, go for a run, and enjoys playing cricket and badminton. After moving here, he is now learning about football.

Jaya Mallela, MD

Dr. Jaya Mallela was born in India and finished his medical education at Osmania Medical College. After graduation, he moved to the United States and completed his MPH from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi. He has notable publications in journals such as Nature, Stem Cells, and has many citations.

His professional philosophy is to do small things with great love and put the needs of the patients first. Dr. Mallela stated, “I am excited and feel incredibly privileged to help my patients, which always provides me great satisfaction and a very humbling experience. I’m happy to give my complete attention and coordinate with other healthcare team members to provide complete care.”

In his spare time, Dr. Mallela likes to spend time with friends and family, read, and watch movies and sports.

Ikuko Mukai-Cheh, DO

Dr. Ikuko Mukai-Cheh is from Yokohama, Japan. She came to the US to complete her graduate degree in Psychology at Boston University. After earning her PhD, she worked as a researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland and the Laureate Institute for Brain Research in Tulsa, Oklahoma before deciding to change careers and attend medical school at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

She is excited to be training in the Stillwater Medical Internal Medicine Residency Program as it provides a wide range of clinical experiences in a supportive and collaborative environment. In her free time, she loves playing badminton with her husband.

Hunter Gray, DO

Dr. Hunter Gray grew up in Round Rock, Texas, but his roots in Stillwater, Oklahoma, run deep—his family has called Stillwater home for three generations. He has fond memories of cheering for the Cowboys at Boone Pickens Stadium and attending summer baseball camps at Oklahoma State University. Now, as the fourth generation in his family to serve the Stillwater community, Dr. Gray is proud to continue that legacy.

He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine and is currently completing his Internal Medicine Residency at Stillwater Medical.

In his free time, Dr. Gray enjoys rock climbing, running, collecting Pokémon cards, and spending time with his wife, young daughter, and their dog.

Brendan Irieoe, MD

Dr. Brendan Iriele was born and raised in Nigeria. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree from Caribbean Medical University School of Medicine (CMU‑SOM) in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles.

Dr. Iriele brings a strong clinical foundation to his work, having served as both a tutor for medical board exams and a clinical assistant in a cardiology department. As the eldest of three siblings, he has honed leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Iriele is an avid soccer player and film enthusiast. Driven by his passion for cardiovascular health, he is dedicated to pursuing a career in interventional cardiology.

Maximillian Ly, DO

Dr. Maximillian Ly is a proud Dallas native who earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from the University of North Texas. During his gap years, he gained hands-on clinical experience as an ophthalmic intern under a retina and glaucoma specialist, serving patients at a diabetic charity clinic in Irving, Texas.

He went on to attend the University of Pikeville–Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he co-founded the local chapter of the Student National Medical Association—a reflection of his strong commitment to healthcare equity and community outreach.

Now in Stillwater, Dr. Ly is excited to bring his energy, empathy, and dedication to patient care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cheering on the Dallas Mavericks, playing pickleball, and exploring the city in search of the best carne asada tacos.
