Earlier this month, Stillwater Medical expanded access to primary care services for the community by assuming operations of services previously provided by the Stillwater Community Health Center. As of January 2, 2026, these services began being offered through the Stillwater Medical Internal Medicine Residency Clinic, located at 809 S. Walnut Street in Stillwater.

This transition was made to improve access to healthcare for medically underserved adults in Payne County while strengthening care coordination, long-term sustainability, and continuity for patients. Individuals receiving care through these services now benefit from closer integration with Stillwater Medical’s providers, specialists, and support resources.

“These services are designed to ensure people have access to consistent, high-quality primary care, even when insurance or cost presents challenges,” said Casey Carter, Executive Director of Primary Care at Stillwater Medical Center. “By bringing these services into our Residency Clinic, we’ve made care easier to access, better coordinated, and more connected across our system.”

The Stillwater Medical Residency Clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Care is provided through a team-based model that includes resident physicians working closely with supervising attending physicians. This approach allows patients to receive personalized, high-quality care while supporting the education of future physicians committed to serving rural and underserved communities. Laboratory services, imaging, and specialty referrals are coordinated through Stillwater Medical to help streamline care and reduce delays.

All patients previously receiving care through the Stillwater Community Health Center were transitioned to the Residency Clinic earlier this month. In addition to continuing care for existing patients, the Residency Clinic is welcoming new patients who may not be aware that these primary care services are available in the community.

Eligibility for reduced-cost services is determined through a financial assistance application process, which includes review of household income and other required documentation. Approved patients may qualify for discounted rates based on established criteria.

“Our goal is to remove barriers that prevent people from seeking care,” Carter said. “When patients have access to a consistent medical home, they’re more likely to address health concerns early, manage chronic conditions, and stay healthier overall.”

Since 1993, the Stillwater Community Health Center served medically underserved adults in Payne County by providing access to essential primary care. By assuming operations of these services, Stillwater Medical continued that mission while expanding patients’ access to a broader continuum of care, including specialty services when needed.

Stillwater Medical remains committed to compassionate, patient-centered care and to ensuring individuals without insurance have access to affordable healthcare services. Community members who believe they may be eligible are encouraged to call the clinic (405) 533-5041 or learn more online at www.stillwatermedical.com.
