Stillwater Medical Center is pleased to announce Kali Dunlap as the July Employee of the Month. Kali is a physical therapists in the inpatient unit, and has worked at SMC for 4 years.
“My husband and I wanted to move back closer to where we grew up and we were both blessed to find positions in Stillwater,” said Kali.
Kali and her husband, Jered, have been married since 2009. They have two children, Atticus, age 5, and Amelia, age 3 ½.
“The kids keep us very busy,” she said. “My husband is a prior commercial pilot and now works at OSU as the Assistant Chief Pilot for their flight program. In our spare time, we enjoy finding small airports with diners to fly to and taking short weekend trips with our children.”
When asked how she felt about the honor of Employee of the Month, she said:
“There is not a day that goes by that I do not enjoy coming to SMC to work. I have by far the best employees and friends to work with. We get the privilege to work with patients when they are at their most vulnerable moments and help them to get back home. It’s truly an honor to be recognized among the 1,200 other amazing employees, as well all work together to create a wonderful patient experience.”
Kali said she really loves meeting the patients and working with them on their road to healing.
“I was called to be a Physical Therapist,” she said. “I truly enjoy finding what motivates people and helping them to achieve their goals.”
Kali said a big goal in her life is to one day provide therapy services in patients home environment after providers and insurance companies have given up on them.
“An example would be to go see a patient a year after a traumatic brain injury and work with them to continue to improve their impairments and help them see improvements,” she said. “I want to be hope to the population that is told they will never get better.”
Kali is also involved at Encounter Church. She said she enjoys being a light to others and thrives on spending time with family and friends.
You are certainly a bright, shining light to all of us at SMC, Kali. Keep up the great work.
