Jennifer was the first in the family to join our Stillwater Medical team; she’s been with us for over 21 years! After completing an internship in HR in 2001, she returned the next year to accept a full-time position as a Registration Clerk. She was then promoted to Lead in 2003 and earned a Supervisor title a few years later. In 2013, she became a Recruiter in Human Resources and is still in that role today. Randy has been part of the team for 17 years, joining the Marketing department in 2006 as a Graphic Designer after his previous employment at Frontier Printers, where he worked on various projects for Stillwater Medical. He is now our Media Production Specialist, which includes photography and videography.

Jennifer and Randy both graduated from OSU. “I met Jennifer my first year of college, and we became best friends. We married almost 6 years later in July of 2002,” said Randy. The couple have a 16-year-old daughter, Avery, and a 13-year-old son, Evan, both born at Stillwater Medical and delivered by Dr. Thomas Karns. They also have an energetic mini-Aussie named River.

What they both said they love most about working at Stillwater Medical…is the people. “I’ve worked with nearly all Stillwater Medical departments, clinics, and leadership. The people here are kind, friendly, and truly care about our patients and each other,” said Randy. Jennifer added, “I feel the same way! I’ve made so many friends along the way – many of whom are still with SMC. They are like family to me.”

When asked about their “why” and where the passion for their work comes from, Jennifer said it’s her long held love for helping others. “I feel a sense of urgency to be at work each day so I can help departments find the best fits for their teams. Leaders and staff depend on me and my coworkers to be efficient and diligent. Since I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease at an early age, I’ve seen many specialists since my teenage years. Healthcare feels familiar. A profession on the clinical side of healthcare was not for me, but that’s the thing about hospitals – we need non-clinical people too!”

“My ‘why’ is that I’ve got my family to love and enjoy and a great job. I like going on family vacations and backpacking trips! Gotta earn that PTO!” said Randy, who spends his downtime hanging out with family and friends, listening to music, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, camping, etc… “Really anything outdoors,” he added.

While reflecting on her motivations, not just at work but in life, Jennifer said, “My family motivates me to keep going. We spend a lot of time just hanging out together – especially if outside activities are involved. But, work is so important to me – it’s part of my identity; I can’t help it. I’ve been working since I was 14, but since the pandemic, I’ve made myself focus on the importance of a work/life balance. I try to spend quiet time with God each morning to set the tone for the day.”
