The first quarter of 2025 brought some amazing nominations for our nursing team here at
SMC. Two were so good that we couldn’t pick just one!
Our first DAISY Honoree is Holden Foreman. Holden is an LPN on our post surgical
department here at the hospital. He had two nominations this quarter. Here is what one of
what his nominators had to say about him:
“I would like to nominate Holden for the DAISY Award for the incredible care he provided to
my dad after his spine surgery. From the moment we met him, it was clear that nursing is
not just a job for him—it’s his passion. Even though he was only my dad’s nurse for one day,
his impact was lasting. He not only took exceptional care of my dad, but he also made sure
our entire family felt informed, supported, and at ease. His compassion, knowledge, and
ability to connect with people are truly remarkable. What stood out even more was how he
continued to check in on us in the days following, greeting us in the halls and asking how
my dad was doing. His kindness and attentiveness didn’t stop when his shift ended.
Beyond his skill as a nurse, Holden has a presence that brings comfort and joy to those
around him. He made us laugh, reassured us when we needed it, and left a lasting
impression on our entire family. I imagine he has never met a stranger—he’s the kind of
person who makes everyone feel like a friend. Holden is a true light at Stillwater Medical,
and they are incredibly lucky to have him. He embodies everything the DAISY Award
represents, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.”
A little known fact about Holden, he has been nominated and in the top 5 nominees each
quarter since we started the DAISY program here at SMC. He also has listed on his annual
evaluation to gain DAISY honoree status as a goal of his, and you can tell that he embraces
and embodies what it means to be a DAISY. Thank you Holden for all that you do for your
patients, their families, and our SMC team!
Our second Honoree is Allison Brown from our Women’s Health Center. Allison is one of
our night shift RNs and takes great pride in helping moms in their birthing journey and in
preparing families in their transition to home. Allison received 5 nominations that raved
about the exceptional care they received. Common themes in these nominations are how
she was knowledgeable, caring, great teacher, calm demeanor, and attentive nature. Here
are two of the nominations for Allison: “Allison went above and beyond for my husband
and I after I gave birth. As a first-time mom, those nights in the hospital
were the hardest for us but she watched our daughter for
us multiple times to make sure that we were both getting sleep, she always made sure I
was feeling good or if I needed something she never hesitated to get me anything I asked
for. She assisted in my birth and I could not have had a better birthing experience thanks to
her and my OB. She helped me right after birth when I was literally at my lowest not
knowing how to take care of myself postpartum. I cannot thank her enough for making me
feel like I was not alone those long nights in the hospital. I truly appreciate the way she
cares about her patients and loves her job. She taught us so much, like different ways to
burp our daughter, how to relieve gas, how to swaddle our baby, she helped me with
breastfeeding which is the hardest thing I’ve had to do. She was so great with my daughter
and I, I cannot thank her enough for all the help she gave my husband and I. She truly is
amazing at what she does.”
“I would like to recommend Allison for the DAISY Award due to her exceptional care and
support during my recent experience with preterm labor. During this frightening time,
Allison was a beacon of comfort and professionalism. She took the time to explain each
step of the process, addressing my fears with compassion and clarity. Her calm demeanor
and attentive nature not only eased my anxiety but also ensured I felt heard and respected.
Allison went above and beyond to coordinate my care, demonstrating a deep commitment
to my well-being. Her ability to balance clinical expertise with genuine empathy made a
challenging experience more bearable. I believe Allison truly embodies the values of the
DAISY Award and deserves recognition for her outstanding contributions to patient care! I
hope we get her again when we are back for the real delivery.”
