Wendy has been with us since January 1, 2012, when the physician whom she was a Medical Assistant (MA) for in Pawnee joined the Stillwater Medical team. When the physician got ill, Wendy floated to different clinics within Stillwater Medical. In 2015, she accepted a job with the Cardiology Clinic as an MA. While there, she became a certified scribe and then a Registered Medical Assistant. It was also during her time with the clinic that she went back to school to earn her title as RN. After graduating nursing school, she became a Registered Nurse in our Cath Lab department.

What Wendy loves most about working at Stillwater Medical is the opportunity for growth, the opportunity to continue education, and the family environment. “When I decided to go to Nursing school, the support from my work family was extraordinary. I started here as a Medical Assistant and have completed by RN, then my CVRN-BC (Cardiovascular Registered Nurse-Board Certified), and have now completed my Bachelor of Nursing,” said Wendy.

When asked about her “why” and what gets her motivated to come to work each day, Wendy said it’s getting the opportunity to make an impact on our patients’ lives. “I love being able to be there for them, sometimes when they are having the worst days of their lives. Getting called in for a STEMI and being able to be a part of a team that makes such an impact on lives is rewarding. I do not wish for anyone to be in that situation, but being able to be there for them in that time of need is what drives me to be a better nurse,” she said.

When she’s not at work, Wendy enjoys reading, painting, gardening, hiking, and learning new things. Wendy and her husband, a deputy for the Payne County Sheriff’s department, have been married for 22 years. They have two sons, the oldest being in the Army and their youngest being an electrician apprentice. They enjoy playing board games, playing cards, and doing things outdoors together. “Anytime that we get the opportunity to be together is a blessing. I love to go see our son in Texas every chance that we get,” said Wendy.
