The SMC Nurse Residency Program supports newly graduated nurses as they transition into professional practice. This structured program is designed to enhance clinical competence, confidence, and retention by providing ongoing education and mentorship during the first year of employment.

The program consists of:

  • One class per month for 12 months, covering key topics such as clinical skills, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
  • Interactive learning sessions, peer support, and guidance from experienced nurse educators and other SMC professionals.
  • A formal graduation at the end of the 12-month period, recognizing successful completion of the residency.

The goal of the Nurse Residency program is to foster a smooth transition from academic preparation to independent practice, improve patient care outcomes, and strengthen workforce stability within Stillwater Medical Center.
