As part of its commitment to serving Perry and the surrounding communities, Stillwater Medical Perry welcomes a new addition to the team. Physical Therapist Lindsey Cannata brings nearly a decade of experience, along with a passion for patient-centered care to her new role.
Lindsey has been practicing as a physical therapist for nine years with diverse experience in outpatient and home health settings.
She began her career in North Carolina, working near Fort Bragg with military personnel, followed by several years in Tulsa where she worked closely with the Air National Guard. Most recently, she spent 2.5 years providing home health care across Oklahoma.
“Fortunately, as a PT I get to spend a lot of time with my patients, so I love getting to build rapport with them,” Lindsey said. “I get to see my patients on a weekly basis, often for multiple weeks, so it’s really fun to be able to learn about them while helping them in their rehab journey.”
Her journey as a physical therapist began after a sports-related injury in junior high.
“During my time in PT, I kept thinking, ‘man, this would be such a fun job,’” she recalls.
After she completed her time recovering in physical therapy, this thought never left Lindsey’s mind, leading her to attain an opportunity to shadow several physical therapists throughout high school.
“I knew after that, this was what I wanted to be,” Lindsey said. “And now here I am.”
Before stepping into the career she always dreamed of, Lindsey attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in nutritional sciences, and later earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa. She also completed an orthopedic residency program through Evidence in Motion while working in North Carolina.
Now, she uses her well-rounded background to approach care as evidence-based and deeply patient-centered. An aspect she admires about Stillwater Medical. Though she is new to working within a hospital system, she appreciates the collaborative environment, which contributes to higher-quality care.
“It is nice to have everyone on the patient’s team in the same system,” Lindsey said. “I’m still learning, but I’m excited to be part of it.”
As a new addition, Lindsey can already feel one aspect instantly. “The staff, and everyone here, treats you like a family member,” she said.
Outside of the clinic, Lindsey leads an active life. She and her husband—whom she met while camping—share a love for the outdoors and enjoy hiking, kayaking and exploring new places. A former soccer player and avid runner, Lindsey has completed several half-marathons and a duathlon. These days, she runs for fun and stress relief.
Her active lifestyle is testimony to living out the advice she gives to patients.
“I like to say, ‘motion is lotion.’ If you can move your body every day and avoid adopting a sedentary lifestyle—especially as you age—that will greatly benefit you,” Lindsey said.
Lindsey now lives in Stillwater with her husband and their 13-month-old daughter. She’s excited to begin serving the Perry community and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with her patients—one step at a time.
