Stillwater Medical Center breaks ground on an Orthopedic Center of Excellence to streamline and enhance patient care. This 35,688 square-foot facility at the corner of Monroe St. and 6th Ave. will be home to its nationally recognized programs in orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, sports medicine, spine health and pain management.
“I have goosebumps when I think about the future of this center, it’s patients and the quality of experiences possible as a result,” said Denise Webber, president and chief executive officer at Stillwater Medical. “This Orthopedic Center of Excellence will allow us to continue to grow and serve this community.”
On Tuesday, Stillwater Medical administration, board members and orthopedic staff came together with construction partners from Nabholz and REES for a groundbreaking ceremony. The building is set to open in summer 2026. The groundbreaking is the culmination of years of preparation and planning under the guidance of the Stillwater Medical Board of Trustees. Gary Clark, vice chairman of the board, spoke at the event.
“As you look at this wonderful facility that we’re starting the journey on today, I’m reminded that it’s not the buildings that make the difference. It’s the people. And we’re so very proud of all the people that will be working in this building,” Clark said.
The new facility will bring Stillwater Medical’s orthopedic care under one roof, creating more opportunities for collaboration and seamless patient care connections. The floor plan will include exam rooms, a physical therapy exercise area, imaging rooms, physician offices and staff and support areas. All these spaces will create opportunities for care providers to connect with and respond to the needs of their patients.
Stillwater Medical ranks among the nation’s top 10% in orthopedic care, achieving a 5-star rating in both total knee replacement and hip fracture treatment from Healthgrades, the #1 site Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital.
“The Center of Excellence will house our award-winning services all under one roof,” said Dr. Mark Paden, board certified orthopedic surgeon who has practiced in Stillwater for nearly two decades. “It’s going to allow us to streamline and enhance the quality of care we provide.”
