Stillwater Medical Center and Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute (OCSRI), formerly Tulsa Cancer Institute, are pleased to have reached an agreement that will expand oncology services in the Stillwater region.

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / May 6, 2016) A memorandum of understanding was reviewed today by the leadership of OCSRI and Stillwater Medical Center for the acquisition of the OCSRI Stillwater location. Leadership teams from both organizations have been collaborating  to prepare the terms of the sale as well as provide a comprehensive oncology program for our community. The terms of the purchase include $3 million for all assets and operations, and $1.35 million for the building. In addition, SMC will enter into an agreement with OCSRI to provide various services based upon their oncology expertise. The definitive agreement should be in place by June 30, 2016, with a plan to close by October 1, 2016.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to help enhance and expand cancer services in Stillwater,” said Suanne Gersdorf, CEO at OCSRI.  “Both teams have worked hard for months to ensure this agreement is mutually beneficially to everyone, especially our patients.”

The expansion will add an additional 6000 square feet to the facility.  It will include additional exam rooms, infusion space, larger waiting area and healing garden.

Upon completion of the transaction, the current physicians will continue to see their patients and the staff from OCSRI will become employed by Stillwater Medical Center at a wage and benefit level comparable to their present employment status.

“We have visited with the staff and assured them of their employment future with SMC,” said Denise Webber.  “They are valuable to the success of this transition and we appreciate the cooperation they have already extended to us. We are excited about this partnership and the new developments for our patients.”

Both Webber and Gersdorf stated that the number one priority it to continue to provide high quality cancer care to the patients of both SMC and OCSRI.
