Radiation Oncology

We offer comprehensive external beam radiotherapy that is able to target cancer in any location in the body. Common forms of cancer you will find being treated here in Stillwater include sites in the brain, head and neck, lung, breast, skin cancer, prostate, and rectum, as well as gynecologic pelvic oncology. When appropriate, we are also able to offer palliative radiotherapy for any form of metastatic cancer for symptom relief.

Treatment Information

  • Treatment Techniques

Techniques including 3D conventional (IMRT) Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, (VMAT) Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy, and Electron therapy used for superficial target areas like skin cancer.

  • Hospital-Wide Coordination

Any plan to treat cancer that includes complex coordination with chemotherapy is easily achieved at the Stillwater Cancer Center with doctors and staff who work closely with one another in one location.

  • Partnerships

The radiotherapy department at the Stillwater Cancer Center provides care in partnership with the Oklahoma Cancer Specialist and Research Institute (OCSRI) and provides MD Anderson-certified physicians and peer review of patients’ therapy plans in Stillwater.  This close relationship with OCSRI also provides easy coordination of gynecologic oncology cases if the patient’s treatment plan includes the use of High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (the use of radioactive sources to safely treat intracavitary cancers like cervical cancer).

The radiotherapy department also participates in the Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System, also known as “RO-ILS,” with more than 425 facilities across the country to contribute patient safety data to the only medical specialty society-sponsored radiation oncology incident learning system to facilitate safer and higher quality of care in radiation oncology.

  • Clinical Training Site

The radiation therapy department also serves as a training site for clinical practice for the medical dosimetry and radiation therapy program sponsored by the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center Radiation Therapy program and is recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology as a clinical practice setting.
