Amy O. Hardin, M.D.
A recent addition to the Stillwater Pediatrics team, Dr. Hardin brings a new skill set—20 years of caring for critically ill children and their families. Having earned her medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, she completed her basic pediatric training at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH. She then went on for additional training in pediatric critical care medicine at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN where she then spent four additional years as an attending physician with the University of Tennessee’s medical school. From there, she and her husband, Tim, moved to Louisville, KY. She was an associate professor of pediatrics at University of Louisville College of Medicine and practiced in the pediatric intensive care unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hardin has also worked at The Home of the Innocents, a long-term care facility in Louisville specifically caring for children similar to those served by The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany, OK.
So why practice pediatrics in Stillwater, OK? When her husband took his new job at OSU, she realized that the thing she enjoyed most about medicine was caring for the whole child—whether basically sick or basically well—giving parents the information needed to raise healthy, happy children from birth to adulthood. Her passion is prevention! By partnering with parents and children, Dr. Hardin strives to do just that. No one wants to have a child injured or ill enough to need a critical care unit.
How is she doing in Stillwater, OK? It’s a bit like her hometown of Bristol, TN—small enough to concentrate on the important things. She and her husband are members of First Presbyterian Church where they are involved in many aspects of church life. She enjoys her two dogs—Hobbs and Tessa, getting together with other women at book club and attending various activities at OSU. Go Pokes!
