Throughout his long career as a cardiologist, Dr. Hagan still gets excited by new developments in the diagnosis and treatment of patients of cardiovascular disease. These new advances in medical care continue to help him fulfill his goal of helping people feel better and preventing the progression of heart disease. Dr. Hagan feels truly blessed when he can help patients recover from life threatening illnesses and guide them to improved health and overall lifestyle.
Dr. Hagan began his education with a bachelors and medical degree from the University of Iowa. Following a medical internship in Des Moines, Iowa he joined the Navy and obtained training as a Flight Surgeon at US Naval School of Aviation Medicine in Pensacola, Florida. He completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology and pediatric cardiology fellowships at the Naval Regional Medical Center and University of California San Diego in San Diego, California.Since moving to Stillwater in 1993, Dr. Hagan has become a trusted member of the cardiology team. His career highlights include: chief of cardiology and director of clinical research at the Naval Regional Medical Center, chief of cardiology and professor of medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine, partner and president of the Tulsa Heart Center, director of echocardiography at Hillcrest Medical Center, clinical professor of medicine at the University of Oklahoma at Tulsa, and a program director for the American College of Cardiology Continuing Medical Education Programs.
Dr. Hagan has authored or co-authored over 125 peer reviewed scientific articles, book chapters in medical textbooks, and two textbooks in echocardiography.
