Stillwater Medical Center is pleased to announce the recipients of the spring “Heart of the Community” Wellness Grants. The grants, totaling over $4,300 will go towards various projects that promote wellness, physical activity and nutrition for people in our community. The grants are as follows:
Krista Neal-SPS Child Nutrition ($231.50)
Displays and models for How much fat? How much sugar? How much salt? How much fiber? To help students understand what is in the food that they are eating.
Jessica McKinzie-Skyline Elementary ($926.00)
Witt Fitt stability balls to use instead of chairs to help with attention spans and increased focus on learning.
Janet Fultz-PCYS ($500.00)
Pre-selected food and drink program for 20 weeks for those individuals and families dealing with substance abuse.
Susan Coltharp-Richmond Elementary (894.00)
Wii consoles Wii Fit game and Balance Board for use as an supplement in the classroom to facilitate learning and realize the importance of interaction with their environment.
Rachel Palmer-City of Stillwater, Senior Activity Center ($777.65)
Exercise balls, stretch bands, resistance tubes for a Sit-N-Fit exercise class at the senior center.
Vada Harmon-Stillwater Middle School Cafeteria ($978.00)
Drink dispensers and refillable bottles to encourage students to drink water and not create extra waste with cups or consume excess sugar in sports drinks, juice, and carbonated beverages.
Stillwater Medical Center awards “Heart of the Community” wellness grants each spring and fall. The next grant cycle will close on October 31. Interested organization can obtain a grant application on our website at www.stillwatermedical.com.
