Stillwater Medical Center is pleased to announce Dee Grimmett, RN, as the February Employee of the Month. Dee has worked at SMC for six years.
“I started in Environmental Services and only planned to work a year after our oldest son left for college. Six years later, I'm still here!” said Dee.
Dee was working in environmental services when a friend asked her why she never went back to nursing school. This inspired her so she started checking into area schools.
“In 2006, I was accepted to the nursing program at Northern Oklahoma College,” said Dee. “I was awarded the HR scholarship which was a blessing that I am truly grateful for.”
Dee continued to work nights while attending nursing school. She accepted a position on the post surgical united in February of 2008 and graduated from nursing school that following April.
“I was recently award the Carolyn Williams Nursing Scholarship and I am attending the University of Arlington Texas where I am pursuing my BS in Nursing,” said Dee.
Dee’s husband of 27 years, Lloyd, and their 2 children, Chris and Brett, also work for Stillwater Medical Center.
“My husband works in Facilities, Brett works in Nutrition and Chris works at Total Health,” she said. “I am very blessed to have each of them in my life.”
In her spare time, Dee enjoys reading and is very active in her church.
“I am an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church,” said Dee. “I serve as a Deaconess, Chair of the Food Committee and I am a proud member of the gospel choir.”
Dee is the youngest of six children. She said she greatly admires her mother for instilling strong Christian values into her children.
“She encouraged us to always be the best that you can be,” said Dee. “We’ve worked very hard to instill the same values into our own children.”
The one thing Dee would like to pass on to others is to always treat people like you want yourself or your loved ones to be treated. |
